Things to do in West Ealing

You’d never guess from the hustle and bustle of Ealing that it was once a rural village. This picturesque urban London district is one of the greenest in the capital, but also offers an abundance of things to do for visitors. At The Drayton Court Hotel, we’re fortunate to be situated close to the best local attractions around.

A great place to visit while you’re in Ealing is the Musical Museum, around 15 minutes’ drive away. The museum displays a variety of self-playing musical instruments, and hosts an array of interesting events. Check ahead in case you need to book.

The Pitzhanger Manor House and Garden is another beautiful place to spend an afternoon, and is within walking distance of the hotel. The manor was built by Sir John Soane in the early 1800s, as both a country retreat and to show off his architectural genius. Visitors can enjoy exhibitions in the Pitzhanger Gallery, built where Ealing’s lending library used to be.

Finish your visit off with a relaxed stroll in Walpole Park, just behind the manor. The park has two ponds where you can watch ducks glide, and a playground where children can work up a healthy appetite for a delicious meal back at The Drayton Court Hotel.

Other parks worth visiting are Ealing Common and Gunnersbury Park, both within easy reach. Green and spacious, they’re great spots to spend a tranquil afternoon with a book, let children expend some energy, or walk your pet pooch.

The London Museum of Water and Steam is a quick bus, car or taxi ride from the hotel, and is a particular highlight for children, who’ll enjoy playing in the Splash Zone while they learn about different ways of moving water. Visitors can also find out about the fascinating history of water supply in London and the rest of the UK (which is more interesting than it sounds!).

Although there’s plenty to do, if you’re staying at The Drayton Court Hotel, chances are you might not want to leave. We host some great shows, including our most popular, Conjuring at the Court, in our beautiful ballroom. The longest-running monthly magic show in London, we change the line-up each time, so no two shows are the same.

Other events include live music every Friday and live jazz on the last Wednesday of every month (October to July). Stay updated with what’s on at The Drayton so you don’t miss out.
